My daughter was so shy when she started, but within weeks she was running into class excited to see her friends. The teachers are so warm and patient. She's learned so muchโ€”her letters, numbers, and most importantly, how to be a good friend.

Early Learning Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from prospective Early Learning families.

HCA Early Learning serves 4-year-old children who turn 4 on or before September 30th of the enrollment year. Our program is specifically designed to prepare children for a successful transition to kindergarten the following year.
Our Early Learning program runs from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The day includes a balance of welcome time, morning circle, small group learning activities, healthy snack, outdoor play, specials (art, music, PE), and closing circle. The schedule provides structure while allowing plenty of time for child-directed play and exploration.
HCA Early Learning maintains a 10:1 student-to-teacher ratio with a lead teacher and assistant in each classroom. Class sizes are limited to 16 students to ensure personalized attention and a nurturing environment where every child is known and supported.
Our Early Learning program focuses on school readiness through developing pre-reading skills (letter recognition, phonemic awareness, name writing), number sense (counting, sorting, patterning), fine and gross motor skills, social-emotional competence (sharing, following directions, expressing feelings), and classroom routines. Children graduate with the confidence and foundational skills needed for kindergarten success.
Yes, children must be fully potty trained before entering the Early Learning program. Our teachers work closely with families during the transition period to ensure a smooth adjustment to the school environment. We understand that accidents happen, especially during the first few weeks, and we handle them with patience and care.
HCA Early Learning uses a developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that integrates literacy, math, science, and social studies through hands-on exploration, creative play, and guided learning experiences. Our curriculum is tailored to each child's developmental stage and interests, ensuring that learning is both meaningful and enjoyable.
Students should bring a labeled backpack, a change of clothes (in case of accidents), and a labeled water bottle daily. We provide all learning materials, snacks, and supplies. Families receive a detailed supply list before the school year begins, and our teachers are happy to answer any questions about what to bring.
We maintain strong parent-school communication through daily updates at drop-off and pick-up, weekly newsletters, photo updates throughout the week, parent-teacher conferences (held twice yearly), and direct teacher communication via email or app. We want parents to feel connected to their child's daily experience and informed about their development.
